Class Experience

US Grade 4
This class will cover all the topics in grade 4 maths and will be customized as per student's needs. Topics can be learned in the desired order. I teach students at a pace that suits them and, also, finish the syllabus on time.

1. Number and Operations

Place Value: Understanding place value up to the millions.
Addition and Subtraction: Addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers, including regrouping.
Multiplication: Mastery of multiplication facts and multiplying multi-digit numbers.
Division: Understanding division as an inverse operation of multiplication; division of multi-digit numbers.
Fractions: Understanding equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.
Decimals: Introduction to decimals, understanding tenths and hundredths, comparing and rounding decimals.

2. Measurement and Data

Units of Measurement: Understanding and converting between different units of length, mass, and capacity (e.g., inches to feet, ounces to pounds).
Time: Reading clocks, understanding elapsed time, and solving real-world problems involving time.
Money: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using dollars and cents, understanding budgeting and making change.
Data Interpretation: Collecting, organizing, and interpreting data using charts, tables, and graphs (bar graphs, line plots, and pictographs).
Perimeter and Area: Calculating the perimeter and area of rectangles and related problems.

3. Geometry

Shapes and Their Attributes: Understanding and identifying different types of polygons, lines (parallel, perpendicular), and angles (acute, obtuse, right).
Symmetry: Identifying lines of symmetry in various shapes.
Coordinate Geometry: Introduction to the coordinate plane, plotting points, and understanding the basics of the x- and y-axis.

4. Algebraic Thinking

Patterns: Recognizing and extending numerical patterns, understanding and using input-output tables.
Expressions and Equations: Introduction to basic algebraic expressions and solving simple one-step equations.
Word Problems: Solving multi-step word problems involving the four operations and algebraic reasoning.

5. Problem Solving

Critical Thinking: Applying math to real-world scenarios, and developing problem-solving strategies.
Mathematical Communication: Explaining reasoning and mathematical thinking in written and oral form.
Learning Goals
Students will develop a deep understanding of place value and apply it to perform multi-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Students will learn to measure, interpret, and convert various units of measurement and effectively analyze and present data.
