US Grade 3 - 4
This English Language Arts pod will meet weekly to cover different grade 4 curriculum expectations. Each class will include a mini lesson on a specific topic and then learners will have the opportunity to practice, work together and brainstorm connections. There will be plenty of hands on writing opportunities as well as shared, guided and independent components in this course. The outline and topics are listed below, however this is subject to change slightly if I feel the group needs more time on a given topic. Learners should also have a journal to bring each week to work on independent writing if there is leftover time in class. Week of September 16 - Topic - Reading Comprehension Week of September 23 - Topic - Fiction vs. Opinion Texts Week of September 30 - Topic - Narrative Writing Week of October 14 - Topic - Intro to Paragraphs Week of October 21 - Topic - Drafting Paragraphs Week of October 28 - Topic - Revising/Editing Week of November 4 - Topic - Informative Writing **BREAK** Week of November 25 - Topic - Establish a personal Writing Voice - how do we connect with our readers Week of December 2- Topic - Opinion Writing vs Fact Writing Week of December 16 - Topic - Elements of Persuasive Writing **WINTER BREAK**

I am an Ontario certified Teacher with 10 years of classroom experience in the public school setting, and over 20 years of experience in various childcare settings.
I am qualified to teach Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies - with an additional qualification, and specialization in Kindergarten.
I believe in providing young learners with the opportunity to make connections between the material being taught and their own lived experiences.
I focus on Empathy and Emotional Intelligence in my lessons and provide well rounded classes (academic + creativity + social)
