Escape Room Lesson : The Roblox Math Challenge
Grade Level: 3rd Grade
Subject: Math

Theme: A virtual Roblox world where students must solve math challenges to escape a glitch and restore the game.

Objective:
Students will practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and word problems to solve puzzles and “debug” the game to escape. in this class students will learn and practice about multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentages, including comparing fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions, and how to change mixed numbers to improper fractions. and decimals.

The lesson will begin with multi-digit addition/subtraction, and then multiplication/division.  It incudes a review of fractions, decimals, and measurements. 
Using the Escape Room, we will go over challenges to complete the challenges in the challenges un the game including: multiplication and division problems,  comparing fractions, equivalent fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions. Students will model how to change an improper fraction to a mixed number using the I do, we do, you do strategy. The students will be given many opportunities to show understanding of this skill by solving problems and completing word problems to show the real world application of the concepts.  We will use the "I do, we do, you do" strategy for each game challenge, and students will be given many opportunities to show understanding of this skill by solving problems and word problems.
