Teacher Expertise
As a veteran teacher of more than 23 years, I have found that my bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education has helped me know HOW to teach and my master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment has allowed me to design specific curriculum to fit the needs of various learners. All students LEARN DIFFERENTLY based on their strengths and weaknesses.
I also have the following degrees and certifications: Elementary Education K-6, Middle School English 7-9, English 9-12, and Exceptional Student Education K-12. I also have the following endorsements: Reading and ELL (ESOL).
I have learned that the most productive method of teaching is the application or transfer step. Students LEARN by DOING and they enjoy doing as long as they are engaged in their learning. Once they understand the concept and why it is important to know and how it would benefit them, they can then begin applying the skill in an authentic or real-world setting.
