A formal Progress Report and assessment will be completed at the end of December. There will also be periodic assessments given throughout the course.Class Experience
US Grade 2
This class will meet twice weekly to create a homeroom experience for learners. Each class will begin with a quick catch up and a review of the elements of Calendar. Each week there will be a different topic for both math and literacy and we will spend 20 minutes on each. There will be a variety of hands on learning activities, shared reading and writing and math exploration each week. Students are free to come and go as they please and we will follow the schedule below: September 9th - Week 1: Welcome to Grade 2! Intros in Writing and Addition/Number review September 18th - Week 1 Cont: Setting Goals for Grade 2 September 23 and 25 - Week 2: Money and Sight Words September 30 and October 2 - Week 3: Graphing and Reading comprehension October 7 and October 9 - Week 4: Graphing/tallying and Spelling Work October 14 and 16 - Week 5: Estimating and Parts of Speech (Nouns) October 21 and 23 - Week 6: Sorting and Parts of Speech (Adjectives) October 28 and 30 - Week 7: Place Value review and Descriptive Writing November 4 and 6 - Week 8: Even/Odd numbers and Friendly Letters *Make up topics to review/cover* Word Problems and Shared Reading BREAK November 25 and 27 - Week 10: Place Value - hundreds/thousands and Procedural Writing December 2 and 4 - Week 11: Time and Parts of Speech (Adverbs) December 9 and 11 - Week 12: Intro to Fractions and Prefixes December 16 and 18 - Week 13: Graphing and Sight Words WINTER BREAK Class will continue in January with new schedule being available by the end of November.
Learning Goals
To work through the main concepts of the Grade 2 Curriculum in a small group setting
To master new Grade 2 concepts and strengthen already learned concepts.

Supply List
Materials will be posted in the classroom each Sunday before class. Students will also need paper, pencils, scissors, glue and a ruler available (not needed every class)

I am qualified to teach Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies - with an additional qualification, and specialization in Kindergarten.
I believe in providing young learners with the opportunity to make connections between the material being taught and their own lived experiences.
I focus on Empathy and Emotional Intelligence in my lessons and provide well rounded classes (academic + creativity + social)
