In this 8 weeks summer camp, students will be learn the following; Week 1: Atomic Structure and Periodic Trends - Periodic table - Calculating or Identifying number of protons, number of neutrons, mass numbers, number of electrons, charges. - Average atomic mass - Isotopes Week 3: Properties of Matter - What is matter - Classes and properties of matter - States of matter - Separating Techniques - Measurements in Chemistry Week 4: Quantities in Chemistry - Mole to mass - Molarmass - Mass to mole - Percent Composition - Empirical formula - Stoichiometry Week 5: Chemical Formulas - Atomic and ionic charges - Polyatomic ions - Writing ionic compounds, molecular compounds and hydrates - Nomenclature (naming Ionic compounds, molecular compounds and acids) Week 6: Chemical Reactions - Types of chemical reactions - Balancing chemical reactions - Writing Chemical Reactions Week 7: Gas Laws - Boyles law - Charles law - Gay Lussacs law - Avogadros law - Combined gas law - Ideal gas law Week 8 Solutions and Solubility Each week topic will be explained in a simple way and practical examples will be used, to help students understand better, where applicable. This class will be interactive and students will be able to demonstrate understanding by participating in solving the review questions towards the end of each class. Learners will need a note book and pen to write down important points and information. A calculator for calculation problems and a periodic table. You can find a free periodic table online and print out. Phone calculators can also be used if scientific calculator isn't available.
