Grade 1 Math Enrichment With Miss Beth

Does your child enjoy numbers and demonstrate a keen interest in mathematics?
My name is Miss Beth and I am a retired elementary educator with over 30 years of classroom and online experience.
This ongoing class is geared towards advanced grade one learners.  Students should have knowledge of basic addition and subtraction as well as confidence working with numbers beyond 100.  We will meet each week to work on the following skills:  counting, comparing and ordering numbers, addition, subtraction, estimation, problem-solving, and mental math skills. We will also delve into other aspects of mathematics including geometry, measurement, patterning, and simple probability experiments.  This ongoing class has a unique focus each week so learners may subscribe at any time.  The class will run on an 8-week loop and will restart at the end of 8 weeks. 

Each class will use the following structure:
Welcome
Oral counting
Mental math or problem-solving activity 
Mini-lesson
Guided practice
Independent practice
Consolidation of new learning
Goodbye

The course will be structured as follows:

Week of September 13  Number sense
Week of September 20  Addition
Week of September 27 PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS NO CLASS THIS WEEK AS MISS BETH IS ON VACATION

Week of October 18 Measurement
Week of October 25 Patterning
Week of October 25 Probability
