Class Experience
Students share their background knowledge of the topic as well as make predictions and do a 'preview' of the text. They will learn a specific decoding skill and make T charts. They will be introduced to new vocabulary words and/or words that are tricky to read. Then, they will start reading the text. Throughout the reading, we will have stopping points to focus on building comphrension skills as well as phonics skills. Here is the weekly breakdown of text topics: Week of August 21:...

-various phonics decoding skills (short and long vowel patterns), silent e, compound words... -comprehension skills (predicting, summarizing, making connections, visualizing, cause and effect, main idea/details...)
I'm a certified teacher with over 10 years of experience. I taught first grade for 7 years. I am trained in a variety of reading programs.
