This class' focus is on learning the key features of spreadsheet apps / Excel in the context of Finance. Learners will build basic financial concepts of income, expenses, balancing a budget, income tax, sales tax, discounts, inventory, simple and compound interest. They will apply all mathematical formulas relevant for these exercises while also learning how to use professional spreadsheet software tools. This is an unique blend of Math and IT concepts and skills within the Financial context that enable learners to benefit in their future academic, career, as well as with their personal financial decisions. Each lesson will be based on Excel exercises that learners will create using real-life applications and data.
Learning Goals
Learners will build the foundation of Financial Literacy, understanding concepts such as: income, expenses, balancing a budget, income tax, sales tax, discounts, inventory, simple and compound interest.

Personal Income from Various Sources | Formatting
 Create an Excel spreadsheet with income data and use the various formatting features of Excel: fonts, colours, borders, align, change columns' size, etc.

 Use the SUM formula of a range of data to calculate totals and subtotals; Insert a circle graph;

Annual Earnings / Expenses based on the Monthly Figures | Date Fields
 Use multiplication and division to convert between monthly and yearly figures;

 Calculate weekly, monthly, yearly figures based on the hourly rate of pay; calculate earnings based on commissions;
