Class Experience

There are nearly 1,000 different Pokémon right now, but we all have our favorites! In this one-week summer camp, you'll be able to request whatever Pokémon you'd like to learn how to draw, and each day we'll go over how to do so. Every Pokémon will be broken down into step-by-step instructions, from sketching, to details, to adding color. This allows learners to take their time and really learn how to draw the subject at hand.

Day 1: Introductions and Getting Started!
In our first day of class, students will introduce themselves in the classroom. They'll be asked what their favorite Pokémon is (and why), and what they like about the series. They'll also be given their first drawing instructions, where they'll learn how to draw Pikachu, the most well-known monster in the series. Once they've completed their illustration, they'll be asked to share their art if they'd like to!

At the end of class on Day 1, learners will be asked to submit their requests for the following days. Each student will be allowed to request a single Pokémon, so make sure you pick your favorite! Learners can request any Pokémon that they wish to, or anything from the Pokémon franchise.

Days 2 through 5: Covering Requested Pokémon!
Each day following the first, learners will be in control of the drawings that they'd like to make! In a randomized order, days 2 through 5 will cover each of the students' requests. All instructions will be in the same format as the first day, where we'll start with sketching, move to details, and finish things off with adding color.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Art is a lifelong passion, and my journey with art started in middle school. I have worked in many different media, but my favorites are sketching, drawing, and photography. I’ve been keeping sketchbooks for nearly 20 years, and they’ve helped me document my journey with art, as well as important milestones in my life. In addition to traditional fine arts, I've always had an interest in animation, and have learned many animation styles and techniques that are useful. I want to help learners find their artistic passion and help them do the same.
