Students will learn cool, easy special fx looks using basic makeup and special fx items easily found around the house or local stores.

Class experience

Students will learn the techniques and tools necessary to create gory wounds for stage, film, and cosplay.
I have a BFA in Musical Theater with training in costuming, wigs, and makeup for film, theater, and cosplay. I have been working in the arts for over 15 years directing and designing theater, behind the scenes and as an actor in film, and working as a professional makeup artist and cosplayer. When not actively doing makeup, I teach it and have been doing so for 10 years, working with kids as young as 5 and even adult team building groups. I was recently interviewed by the online magazine, Cosplay in America, detailing my work as a makeup artist and teacher.
This class is designed to meet the needs of children with or without learning needs. As someone who is Dyslexic myself and grew up with learning challenges, I make sure to work with each student on at their own speed.
Everything you will need for this class is available on Amazon, Party stores, or can be substituted with drugstore makeup items. Students are encouraged to bring any kind of special effects makeup items they have or want to try as well!

Liquid Latex or School Glue and Flour (liquid latex can be found on Amazon and party stores)

Toilet Paper and/or Cotton Balls and Q-Tips

Petroleum Jelly/Vaseline

Scar Wax (you can find it on Amazon)

Corn Syrup or Pancake Syrup or Honey, Red Food Coloring, and Cocoa Powder for fake blood

Eyeshadow or Facepaints or any kind of Makeup in shades of red, brown, black, purple, green, and yellow (you can alternate between these easily - whatever works best for the student)

Foundation or concealer in or close to the student's skin tone

Small Paintbrushes and makeup brushes, makeup sponges, Q-Tips, and a fluffy powder brush or powder puff

Setting powder or baby powder

A Blow Dryer or Fan of some sort to speed up dry time

Empty cups or bowls and spoons for measuring and mixing

Plenty of paper towels, wet wipes, and a surface you can easily clean
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Although we will not be discussing violence, the class will be focusing on creating realistic looking wounds for theater, film, and cosplay. As this subject might be uncomfortable for some students, parents are advised to use their best judgment in regards to what their child is comfortable with.
See Supply List for materials needed for class.
