Description
Class Experience
Students will come to understand how GoPros are different from other cameras and how to USE those differences to their advantage. They will learn a creative process for uncovering fun subject matter and will learn 5 techniques for capturing that subject matter with fresh and exciting photographs.
I have been shooting with GoPros professionally since 2014, using them for documentary films and photo assignments.
At the end of class, an optional photo assignment will be given that combines the concepts taught and can be completed close to home (ideally just outside the student's house). The students will be encouraged to complete the assignment and submit a favourite photo for our group portfolio. Again, this is encouraged but totally optional.
A GoPro. It doesn't matter which one. Additional GoPro accessories (mounts, grips, etc.) are NOT required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This class will partially focus on photographing actions like jumping in the air, running, or perhaps playing the student's favourite sport. There will not be any mention of doing anything extreme or highly risky (no skydiving or deep-sea scuba diving here, sorry). That said, if your child wishes to use their GoPro with one of their favourite sports while using the photographic principles taught in this class, please supervise as you feel necessary! I will be encouraging safety above all else.
