Topics & What will be taught: In this 6 week course students will be reading the Goosebumps story The Haunted Mask from R.L. Stine. Students will be required to read a set amount of chapters for the week. In addition to discussing the book we will work on the following concepts; vocabulary, reading comprehension, prefixes, contractions, illustrating, creative writing, summarizing, and creative writing. Class Structure: The first part of the class will be discussing the book; What happened?, What do we think will happen next?, etc. We will also go over the reading comprehension questions to ensure students have the correct answers. After the book discussion and going over the reading comprehension questions we will do a worksheet for the day to incorporate a reading/writing skill. Interaction: Students will be able to interact with each other through group discussions. Class Schedule Week 1 Chapter 1-7 Activity- Vocabulary Week 2 Chapters 8-14 Activity-Prefix dis- & mis- Week 3 Chapters 15-22 Activity- Contraction (n't) Week 4 Chapters 23-29 Activity- Illustrating an Event On Your Own Activity- these activities can be completed any time throughout the month - Novel Summary - Creative Writing

Parental Guidance
If your child likes the Goosebumps series then this class is for them. If they do not like thrilling mystery stories then this may not be the book for them.
- Outside work will depend on their reading pace and how they respond to their reading comprehension questions.
Worksheets will added to a google sheets document. These can then be printed off and written on.
Supply List
Students will need access to the Goosebumps book The Haunted Mask by R.L. Stine Students will need the worksheets printed or have paper and pencil to write down their answers.
