Class Experience

This class is for all levels of French language learners who could use some writing help. Students don't get enough individual feedback about their own writing and often rely on online translators such as Google translate. This FLEX class is a great way to practice writing and get feedback from a certified French teacher to improve compositions! Each week, students will be assigned a writing topic and given structures to focus on. Because each student will be at his/her individual proficiency level, expectations and feedback can be personalized to meet them where they are! As an experienced teacher, I can give them feedback and make corrections to improve based on their level (novice low, novice mid, novice high, intermediate low, mid, high) according to the ACTFL standards.

On Sunday evenings, students will see a writing topic based on either a prompt or an image. Students will be asked to create 1-2 sentences based on the prompt and share in the classroom under the post or on flipgrid. Then, they are required to respond to at least 1 other student's post with a question, a reaction or a correction. Great learner-to-learner interaction to see how others are writing!

Week 1: Un Portrait: Qui suis-je? Je me présente...we will use adjectives and verbs to talk about ourselves in a personal way.
Week 2: Une Lettre: Practice using some "letter writing" vocabulary.
Week 3: Décrivez un Tableau: How will we describe a painting using prepositions, descriptive words, adjective order and color agreement.
Week 4: Une Histoire: Let's be creative and write a fictional story!

They will be given specific criteria and a rubric for grading. They will then have 1 week to work on the writing sample, submitting it multiple times if necessary. Once submitted, I will give individual corrections and support to be sure the learner understands his/her errors and continues to improve.
