In this 4-week class, students will have a chance to solve another round of mysteries.
Class experience
It's time for another round of solving the cases! These cases are slightly harder than before and require more in-depth thinking and reasoning. Students who have enjoyed solving the riddles in my More Training to Be a Super Sleuth classes will enjoy this 4-week class. Each class prompts students to sharpen their thinking skills while refining their questions. Discussions at the end of class encourage students to see how critical thinking skills are necessary in our everyday lives as well...
4 lessons//4 Weeks
Week 1Lesson 1Mystery #1My lesson is a mystery that students will need to solve asking questions. If they solve it before the class is over, I have simpler one-minute mysteries to solve. Students learn how to ask questions and refine their answers to find the solution.Week 2Lesson 2Mystery #2Students will use brainstorming and problem solving skills to solve the mystery using yes and no questions. They learn how to ask broader questions to eliminate possibilities quickly. They also learn how to ask narrow questions to hone in on the specific details needed to solve the mystery.Week 3Lesson 3Mystery #3My lesson is about taking the mental image in your head and communicating it others so we can all have the same mental picture. Doing this helps students learn to how communicate clearly and effectively.Week 4Lesson 4Mystery #4My lesson is about taking the previous knowledge they've gained from the last three mysteries and using that knowledge to solve this new mystery.
Students will solve a case (aka mystery) by asking yes or no questions. Students will use critical thinking skills to ask questions. Students will work together as a team to solve the mystery. Students will refine their questions ask they work to narrow down the solution. Students will have fun solving the mystery. Students will brainstorm how critical thinking skills are necessary in every day life.
Students should have taken Extreme Training to Be a Super Sleuth before taking this class.
