Goddesses: Exploring Goddess Culture Through the Ages!
In this 45 minute class, students will be introduced to historical goddess figures and we will explore the cultural context of these cultures.

Athena, Isis, Lilith and Oya! Do some of these names sound familiar? They are all incarnations of the Goddess! The dominant religions of today's world focus on a masculine image of God but this was not always the narrative. In this secular focused 45 minute class, students will gain a historical overview of the ancient Goddesses of Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. We will also explore the shift many cultures experienced between Goddess culture to Sky God religions and the implications that this had on past individual societies. We will begin with an exploration of a few different goddesses (and their myths) from each continent. We will conclude class with a discussion on matriarchal values of these societies and how this impacted the "Burning Times" also known as 600+ years of witch trials. This class focuses on the HISTORICAL context of these Goddess religions.
