They can discuss it during the next class. Fun Challenges: I include fun challenges like "Try something new today" or "Find a positive quote to share with the class." These challenges can be lighthearted and promote a positive mindset. Mindfulness Activities: I may assign mindfulness exercises or activities for students to practice, such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, or earthing/grounding.Assessment
Goal Setting and Achievement: The teacher will evaluate students' goal-setting skills and their ability to break down goals into manageable steps. I will check if they are achieving the goals they set during the class. Class Participation and Engagement: I will observe students' participation in class discussions, sharing sessions, and activities. Are they actively engaged, listening, and contributing? I will use rubrics or checklists to assess their social skills and involvement.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Hello Everyone! Rise and Shine! My Morning Meeting class is designed to provide a dynamic and enriching start to your child's weekday mornings. No background knowledge is needed to succeed in this class. Our 5 part DAILY Routine: Building Confidence, Setting Goals, and Growing Together 1. Warm Welcome: We begin each day with a warm and friendly greeting. Your child will practice making eye contact and sharing smiles as they greet the teacher and their fellow classmates. 2. Morning Motivation: Your child will kickstart their day with positivity and enthusiasm. We'll share a daily message filled with encouragement and inspiration, setting the tone for a fantastic day ahead. 3. Goal Mapping: Together, we'll explore the exciting opportunities of the day. Your child will learn how to set achievable goals and break them down into manageable steps. This helps them develop essential planning and time management skills. We will set goals on Mondays and assess them on Fridays. 4. Celebrating Success: Every learner has something special going on in their life. Your child will have the chance to share their unique achievements, interests, or experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and community within the class. 5. Empowering Activities: Learning should be engaging and fun! Your child will participate in a variety of activities, games, and creative exercises designed to reinforce the growth mindset strategies we discuss. These activities will help them build resilience and develop a positive attitude towards challenges. Each day of the week will follow the above format, but also include a daily theme during part 3 above: Motivational Monday-We will set goals for the week. Goals will be written in their journals. True/False Tuesday- There will be a True/False question(s) asked every Tuesday to assess understanding of the growth mindset. Wellness Wednesday-There will be a very short (science based) wellness discussion about topics such as water intake, sleep, or exercise. Water intake will come from the Children's Health journal. For example: 9-13 years old (girls): 7 cups of water/day 9-13 years old (boys): 8 cups of water/day. The focus will be broad such as "water is good for your body." The same will apply for topics such as sleep or exercise. Here are examples: "There are positive health benefits to getting enough sleep." "There are positive health benefits to moving and being active." The focus will be on general health goals for 9-13 year olds. There will not be any pressure to gain or lose weight or judgement. There will be positive goal setting for the benefit of overall wellbeing. Thankful Thursdays-Students will practice gratitude by writing in their journals. Funny Friday-There will be a joke of the day. Next, students will assess the achievement of their goals. **What I Offer:** - **Emotional Well-Being:** In this nurturing environment, I prioritize your child's emotional well-being.
