Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
In this Self-Paced course, there is no live instruction. The class will include multiple interactive activities (in the Outschool classroom) including practice problems in Quizizz, and Google Slides; in addition to matching activities in Jamboards, flashcards, and other games. There is no pre-requisite knowledge required. Feedback will be given by the instructor for all practice problems submitted.

This is the perfect class to start from the beginning to the end as it relates to geometric measurement. We will review EVERYTHING from terminology, angles, 2D shapes, 3D shapes, and measurements: including area, perimeter, circumference, volume, surface area, and net objects. This is a comprehensive course directed to help your learner become more confident when working with angles and shapes.

The course material will be posted at the start of each week (Monday):
1 - Angles. Discuss the types of angles, complementary, and supplementary, and then learn how to measure them.
2 - 2D Triangles and Quadrilaterals. Discuss how to find the area and perimeter of triangles and quadrilaterals.
3 - Circles. Understand the parts of a circle and how to find the area and circumference.
4 - 3D Rectangular Prisms. Understand the terminology of faces, edges, and vertices, and then learn how to find volume and surface area.
5 - 3D Cylinders. Understand the terminology and how to find volume and surface area.
6 - Net Objects. What are Net Objects and what do 3D objects look like when laid out flat?
7 - Class Review

Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! My name is Ms. Ann and I have been a teacher for over a decade in the beautiful state of VA. I have taught several grades in both Elementary and Middle School. I love to teach. I think the best part of teaching is sharing my knowledge in a variety of subjects and helping students make connections to previous experiences or existing background knowledge.

I am a certified teacher in all core subjects: math, history, science, and language arts (grades K-8 and gifted education). I believe that successful teaching includes building relationships, interest, and engagement with students. When students are interested in the topic, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and ultimately master the content.

I hope to see you in class soon!
