Class Experience
Looking for a delicious way to get rid of the brown bananas on your counter? What better way than to bake them into some delicious muffins the whole family will go bananas for! This is a hands on cooking class, so get ready to get baking! First, students will learn proper kitchen vocabulary and measuring techniques. This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their measuring skills, will learn terminology used in baking and will enhance their baking techniques. Students will bake cupcakes during class.
I have been baking all of my life! I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I also teach Food and Nutrition in an Ontario High School and have taught many young people how to bake this recipe successfully. I love to share my joy of baking with students and to see their confidence in the kitchen improve.
No homework unless they want to make them again! Students will have to clean up and wash their dishes after class.
Students will need the following ingredients: 3 ripe bananas, oil, sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, salt, flour, chocolate chips Muffin tray and muffin cups and/or cooking spray
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be given informal, anecdotal comments during the class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is a hands on cooking class so students might need help using an electric mixer, knife and oven.
