This class will cover the basics of archeology - what is it, how it is done, and where it happens. We will discuss three places in the world where archeology is happening right now - Egypt, Australia, and Mesa Verde National Park, in Colorado. We will look at different artifacts that are found in these locations, and discuss what this tells us about the people who lived there. This will be a show and tell type class, with opportunities for students to look at different artifacts from these...
Students will learn what archeology is, the basic principles of how it is done and why, and several sites where archeological expeditions are taking place.
No homework will be assigned.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be informally assessed by being able to explain what archeology is, why people do it, and where it is happening.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
