Successful production of the weekly recipe will be the self-assessment used.Class Experience
Students will receive a new recipe each week. The teacher will take the students through the recipe step by step. This class will specifically feature gluten free desserts. Students are invited to follow along while creating their own version of the baked goods. An ingredients list will be provided prior to class. Parents are encouraged to assist their younger students in order to prevent injury with sharp or hot equipment. During cooking times the teacher will provide information through a variety of activities on healthy gluten free living practices and general nutrition information for healthy living. Class structure: First: Class intro and welcome. Second: Assembling and explaining the ingredients. Third reviewing the recipe. Fourth: mixing and preparing the recipe. Fifth: Cooking/baking the food item. Sixth: Ways to mix it up! Seventh: Nutrition facts for health (While the items are baking). Eighth:Tasting our foods! Ninth: Ideas for serving and preserving. Topics: nutrition, cooking skills, gluten free living.
Learning Goals
1. Students will compile a recipe file of gluten free baked goods they can make
2. Students will gain understanding of, and experience with cooking skills
3. Students will practice reading a recipe.
4. Students will learn some ways to "mix it up" and create new versions of tested recipes.
Other Details
Supply List
Each week an ingredients list will be posted prior to the class. Students need the following to participate: Oven, microwave, stove, baking dishes, mixing bowls and other basic cooking and baking equipment such as measuring cups and spoons, hot pads, mixer, etc....

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
