In this one time course, students will make a variety of beautiful Christmas themed Art that looks like it is glowing as they use pastels on a black background. Students will also learn about value and blending techniques with pastels.

Description

Class Experience

Students will learn about value and basic shading and blending techniques using (chalk) pastels as they create multiple Christmas themed artworks (*all shown in the photo examples; candy canes, lights, and a tree). Students can follow the teacher step by step or choose to add their own creative details. My classes tend to be laid back and conversational; since this is a Christmas themed drawing class we can talk about our plans for the holidays and any fun traditions that our families might...

Students will improve their understanding of the Aurora Lights blending using (chalk) pastels.

All artists work at their own pace and some students may not fully complete a background or other additional things that they might like. If a student feels like their art is incomplete, they can add more after class.

1. Three or more pieces of black paper (construction paper is fine or students could use a higher quality acid free paper)
2. Pastels (chalk pastels) in a variety of colors

50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
