Homework
Learners may choose to practice and finish their looks over a period of time.Assessment
Learners will be given feedback privately and comments will be made on any interaction they make within the classroom.Class Experience
During this Flex class we will develop skills to be able to recreate a special effects makeup look suitable for theatre productions, Halloween or to impress friends with your new skills. Over the next four weeks we will learn how to create our own scar wax, layer colors and textures to create basic cuts, bruising, scars, burns and peeling skin. We will be using glue and tissue paper (instead of liquid latex) to create some of the looks. Please ensure you have done a patch test to ensure you are comfortable using the glue on your skin. Week 1: Prepare and mix scar wax and create swelling and cuts using homemade scar wax. Week 2: Create bruising using eyeshadow colors and create a grazed look. Week 3: Create textured burn marks. Week 4: Create cuts, bruising and peeling skin. During the final week, I will also give a brief for a theatre shoot for example the person on set got into a car crash and they got a small cut on their right eye and a graze on the chin. I will then give the learners the opportunity to put their learned skills to the test in this new challenge. Videos sharing these skills will be shared once a week on a Monday morning BST. Students are asked to participate in sending a video back publicly or privately to the teacher at some point during the week. Other tips and support will be uploaded during the week depending on the students that are participating.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to create some real life cuts and bruises that could occur during incidents. Putting their skills to the test and recreating a theatre style brief.
