Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11
I hold a Master's Degree in Students with Disabilities and a Bachelor's in English Literature with a Minor in Global and International Studies. I am a New York State certified teacher with certifications in English Language Arts and Special Education. My Special Education certification allowed me to work in Global and American history classrooms. I also have experience working on New York state Common Core Regents committees. I continue to further my education by regularly reading from reputable international science, climate, criminal justice, and political journals.
This class will often pertain to discussions on world religions. Students will study religion's historical, cultural, literary, social, and political development in the US and the world. Discussions on religions will remain objective and factual so parents should be aware that I often ask open ended questions pertaining to questions on world religions or ask students to explain their present understanding of a world religion from history. When posing this questions, learners may share their own personal knowledge of religion and I encourage everyone to be respectful of the ideologies of others.
Certain time periods in history will pertain to genocide, violence during war time, death, human/women rights violations. These topics can be uncomfortable for some learners but I keep the discussions factual and since we work from archived Common Core examinations, the topics of discussion are considered curriculum in most American states.
