Glencoe Math (Algebra 1) 2nd Semester
In this full-curriculum live group class, students will meet twice a week to learn the topics in the second half of Glencoe Math (Algebra 1). Learners will have detailed lessons and examples to help them understand and master the topics.
What's included
30 live meetings
22 hrs 30 mins in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. Answers to the odd questions are found in the back of the book. This is a great way for learners and parents to check answers.Grading
For those wanting to test their learner, if requested, as we complete each chapter I can provide the detailed solutions to each chapter's practice test. However, this class is a non-graded course. We practice many exercises together in class. Having your learner complete some of the at-home math practice exercises daily is recommended. Each week in the Outschool classroom, I post screenshots of some of the notes and exercises from our time in class. Additionally, the answers to the odd-numbered exercises are in the back of the textbook.Class Experience

Learner Review: Ms. Vanleer teaches so thoroughly and is very patient and good at explaining things. With her instruction and such a welcoming class atmosphere, my knowledge, comfort, and confidence with math has tremendously grown. I can't recommend her classes enough!! ------------------ This is a full-curriculum course. Learners can join the class any week. See class description and syllabus for more details about this class and weekly lessons. **Glencoe Math Algebra 1 (First Semester) is offered for the fall semester. As a person who struggled with math as a younger student, I can empathize with and relate to learners as they try to understand new concepts. I display patience with the learners, give them time to respond, and offer encouragement for their efforts. Students should be made to feel comfortable when they are willing to participate in class. This is a complete academic course covering lessons in the second half of Algebra 1. The goal is to cover 2-3 lessons each week. In this ongoing class, students will meet twice a week to learn and practice topics in the second half of Algebra 1. Some topics include order of operations, solving equations with variables on both sides, graphing linear equations, solving multi-step inequalities and system of equations. During each class, the new lesson will be introduced to the learners. We will then complete some exercises together. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class. I will make every effort to involve students in class participation. As appropriate, I incorporate review material into the lessons to further solidify the math concepts to the learners. Students should be familiar with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Students will need the following textbook: Glencoe Algebra 1, Student Edition (ISBN-10: 0078884802 or ISBN-13: 978-0078884801) **Many used copies of the textbook can be found online. Answers to the odd questions are found in the back of the book. This is a great way for learners and parents to check answers. Come prepared to listen and learn. I monitor learners' understanding (usually through facial expressions). Open cameras also allow learners to interact and experience a class environment.
