What will be taught? The curriculum focuses on educating children about gut health, including the digestive system, the microbiome, the role of bacteria in the body, and how different foods and daily habits impact gut health. Children will learn how to maintain a healthy gut through proper nutrition, hydration, and understanding the balance between good and bad bacteria. Class structure The class is structured into 10 interactive lessons, each focusing on a specific aspect of gut health. Every lesson begins with a pre-quiz to assess the students’ prior knowledge, followed by engaging classroom activities that include stories, games, and hands-on learning. Each lesson introduces a “Gut Guardian” character that helps explain complex concepts in a child-friendly way. The lessons conclude with a discussion or reflection to reinforce what has been learned. The teaching approach combines interactive storytelling, hands-on activities, and discussions. Each lesson is designed to be engaging and fun, using characters, stories, and games to help children understand and remember the material. Activities such as creating a ‘Healthy Plate,’ crafting a ‘Fiber Buddy,’ and participating in interactive demonstrations will make the concepts more tangible and relatable for young learners. The use of quizzes, video clips, and slides will also supplement the learning process. My teaching style is highly interactive, engaging, and student-centered. I focus on making complex topics accessible by using storytelling, relatable characters, and hands-on activities. I believe in encouraging curiosity and critical thinking through open discussions and reflective practices. I aim to create a supportive and fun learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts. Learners will have multiple opportunities to interact with me throughout the course: • Lectures: Brief, engaging explanations of key concepts using slides and video clips. •Games: Interactive games that reinforce the material, such as matching bacteria to their functions or creating healthy meal plans. •Hands-on Activities: Crafting activities like making a ‘Fiber Buddy’ or cooking simple probiotic snacks. •Discussion: Each lesson will conclude with a discussion session where students can share their thoughts, ask questions, and reflect on what they’ve learned. •Storytelling: I will actively engage with students through stories about the ‘Guardians of the Gut,’ making the learning experience more dynamic and enjoyable. Overall, my teaching approach ensures that students are not just passive listeners but active participants in their learning journey.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I'm Fizza and I'm passionate learner and one who loves to share this passion! Here on Outschool I offer loads of interesting classes like Maths, creative writing, book club, critical thinking, baking and cooking, productivity and nutrition.
Most kids love to cook, get messy, lick their fingers but in the process they are learning so many life skills. I want to inculcate this adventure with food where they can be mindful of their food and the can immerse themselves into this art. I have two children myself and they’ve seen me sharing my passion with other kids and so it’s a given that both of them enjoy being in the kitchen with me where we try lots of different things. In my virtual Outschool kitchen club, we create a huge variety of recipes sweet and savoury. I encourage my little crockpots (my learners in the kitchen!!) to try new foods in the class. Please remember that the recipes we create in the class might not always be your learner's favourite. The purpose is to develop their sensibilities to various ingredients so they can choose foods that are good for them. The purpose is for them enjoy and learn cooking cause everyone should know how to cook and feed themselves.
I teach cooking and nutrition, healthy eating at Little Crock Pots Cookery Club for kids and I also teach at a local Sunday school. I have a B.Sc in Biology and Chemistry and I also have a Masters degree in Management Sciences. I have a Diploma from the London school of Journalism in freelance and feature writing. I’ve worked as a content writer and research analyst for major advertising companies and so I also want to bring this experience into teaching. I also have a CPD certification in Numicon teaching. I also have a certification as an Advanced Gut Restoration Nutritional Advisor.
I’ve run cooking classes for more than 8 years at after school cooking clubs, community centres, schools etc.
