US Grade 1 - 4
Using either the worksheet provided or their own paper or thank-you cards, the class will write individual and custom thank-you notes to express their gratitude in writing. The students will help each other with the letter composition process, guided minimally by the teacher, where needed. This class also gives the procrastinating learner an appointed place and time to get the note written, with assistance and support. In a collaborative and fun manner, we will introduce the structure and format of a letter, including: Date Greeting Body Closing Signature Working together, we will talk about different options of what to write, as well as make sure that correct spelling and grammar are used. Saying more than just "Thank you," we work on being thoughtful about expressing specific things we like about the gift received and why we are grateful. Students will also have plenty of time to talk about favorite gifts they have received, other things they are grateful for, and things they plan or hope to give others.
Learning Goals
Students will practice writing, spelling and composition. They will also be introduced to the letter writing format in a fun and cooperative environment. They will be reminded about the joys of being grateful, and the many things to be grateful for.
