Class Experience

Growing up, I was around a lot of birds, however I really did not know anything about them or appreciate them. Now I am an avid bird watcher and photographer. I want to share my love of birds with children. We will talk about the birds, where they live, what they eat, and many other interesting facts. Each week we will focus on a different bird/ bird family. The students will also learn how to use birding identification guides and clues on how to identify birds. 

Each week we will look at...

Students will learn owls, their habitat, calls/song, and other information. We will be covering the following: 
1. The types of owls. 
2. What is the distinguishing characteristics of owl. How are they different from from other raptors.
3. Where do they live, does it migrate and if so where does it go.
4. A pictures and videos of the owls, can include several showing the difference if adult, juvenile, breeding, male/female
5. What does it eat.
6. What type of habitat does it live in.
7. Is it endangered, what threats to the species are there.
8. Sounds they make.

I have been an avid birder for years, and enjoy taking pictures of nature, especially birds. I enjoy studying the birds and learning more about them.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
