Class Experience

This class will be an opportunity for girls to chat and socialize with one another. We will meet each time and talk about anything from what happened last week, what we want to be when we grow up, and things they like to do for fun. Each week I will have some fun questions and games for us to play, but the goal is for the students to steer the the conversations and freely talk.

This is a student led class. I will facilitate the class by monitoring the conversation and providing them with discussion topics if needed. The goal of this class is to allow the girls to engage in respectful, free conversation in which they can have fun and an outlet to connect with their peers. This class does not have a set schedule of games, topics, or activities. I want the girls to influence those things. However, I will have some things listed below incase they arent able to keep the conversation going.

This will be a safe place where students will feel comfortable to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. To ensure this, my main role will be to include all group members and allow equal opportunities for them all to talk and ask questions. As the group facilitator, I will also try to gently encourage group members to share and support them if they feel nervous to do so.

I look forward to meeting everyone and I can't wait to chat!!!

Games: I will plan to use fun interactive games.
Conversation topics: What do you want to be when you grow up? What do you like to do? Whats your favorite ____?

Parental Guidance
Because this will be a student led, discussion based class, students may bring up content related to cultural or social matters parents may be sensitive to. I will always guide the conversation to maintain appropriateness and intervene if I feel a student talks about something that is inappropriate. The main purpose of this course is to provide students with a safe environment in which every participant feels comfortable.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, My name is Britany.
I just started my 8th year teaching. I love teaching students of all ages. I currently teach pre-k students with special needs who are ages 3-5. I have taught students special education Pre-k up to 12th grade in all areas. I enjoy teaching students low level math, letters, number, life skills, and more. I have also taught online ESL with three different companies for the past 4 years.
My personal philosophy for teaching is to assist each student in every aspect of his or her educational experience and in doing so targeting his or her specific area of need. I believe in each student to be enabled to embrace every opportunity that is offered. By doing so the student will maintain a positive out look while becoming more self-reliant.
I love making class fun while learning. I love putting together puzzles and playing with my daughter.
