Each week girls will meet to discuss a range of topics regarding self-empowerment, self-care, discuss interests, and socialize with other girls. We will start with an ice breaker, our highs and lows of the week/day, and choose what area of empowerment we want to discuss. Each section will be different because different students will be in the courses and have different goals and interests. If your learner would like to be in more than one section, they can! My goals for this class are for...
-Social Skills -Become more self-aware -increase self-worth
I've been working with children for the past 20 years as a teacher, behavior therapist, and counselor I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health as well as a Bachelors in Psychology and Studio Art. I have worked with children of different backgrounds, ages, and abilities. These past few years I have been a mental health coach for children and young adults. I help them how to find their strengths to empower themselves and live their best lives. My speciality is anxiety, depression, and parent training. I'm passionate about helping young people have more self-awareness, increase their social emotional tools, and empower them to reach their goals. I hope that girls are able to socialize and connect after class and form friendships while learning ways to empower themselves. My approach to teaching and mentoring is by working from a strengths based-perspective to help youth increase confidence in themselves so they fun and positive learning experience. My goals are not only to teach them these skills but also instill in them a love of learning!
I will send out worksheets a day before class so learners have the opportunity to complete worksheets before class.
1 file available upon enrollmentMost sessions won't require any additional materials but if there is a small craft project involved, optional supplies will be posted before the class based on the week's project. I will cater it so it is something that can be found around home or materials that are easy to obtain. I will always provide an option for them to be able to take part in the activity in one way or another.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
