Did you know the headscarf is worn by many women around the world? I will showcase a variety of ways to wear a hijab (Muslim headscarf in Islam) and mention the names of other head coverings to create awareness and understanding from a secular perspective. We will discuss and share a lot to promote critical thinking and enhance social skills.

Class Experience

Fun fact: The Hijab is not just a garment worn. Come learn what else it means. History has shown women from many cultures and religions wear head coverings too. From Muslims, Nuns, Orthodox Jews, Hindus and many more.

This class is designed to teach how to tie a hijab in various ways and other head coverings as it is a great way to highlight similarities. As a result, we will not discuss my personal beliefs or any of the students' beliefs. Rather, we will merely focus on the names of other head coverings to see how it is worn. Afterwards, students will learn a variety of ways of how to wrap head coverings. So pick out your favorite colored scarfs and let’s get wrapping! πŸ§•

PLEASE NOTE: Students are NOT expected to already be wearing any type of head covering. This class to open those who wear it or don't. No problem if your child wears one as they can share theirs with the class if they want. This class is aimed at making students better-rounded and expanding their knowledge about different cultures in an effort to also promote unity.
