Grab your crayons, markers or colored pencils and join this club to color, socialize and make friends. This is a fun, interactive club that meets each week. I post 3 pages to the classroom on Monday mornings for parents to print off each week. You are also free to coloring your own pages or book. Each week, one coloring page is an endangered species. We will learn a few facts about the endangered species and look at some pictures. If you homeschool, you can use this class as your art, social studies and science credit for the day. Boys may also join. Class discussion normally centers around mermaids, unicorns, rainbows and dolls. I prefer teaching ongoing classes that meet every week where students are able to get to know each other over time. Occasionally, I will need to cancel class as late as the night before due to family and work obligations. If this may be an issue, please consider it before enrolling. Teacher expertise and credentials
3 Degrees
Doctoral Degree from University of Tennessee
Master's Degree from University of Tennessee
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of Notre Dame
I enjoy incorporating educational opportunities into fun activities. For example, my Girls’ Coloring Social Club hides science, geography, social studies, arts, communication and history.
My teaching style preference is a homeschool approach emphasizing respectful for the child by allowing children to speak during classes rather than instituting abject muting. Students are treated like they and their ideas are important. Students are able to learn proper socialization skills over time through this teaching method.
Occasionally, I will need to cancel class with only a few days notice to travel for work or to meet family responsibilities. If this may be an issue, please consider it before enrolling.
CLASS RULES
All of my classes have the same classroom rules:
Be kind to each other
Don’t speak over others
Allow everyone a chance to speak
Mute yourself if you have background noise so we can hear each other
You do not have to raise your hand to speak but if someone is speaking and you’d like to speak, raise your hand so I know to call on you next
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
It detracts from the learning experience of students and from my teaching when I have a student attending classes who refuses to adhere to the class rules.
Noncomplying students will be corrected (muted in extreme cases) and reminded of the class rules 3 times each class before being sent to the waiting room. If a student is sent to the waiting room, a message will be sent to the parent after class about the classroom issues with the student. If a student is sent to the waiting room during 2 classes, the student will be withdrawn from class.
