Girl Talk 101: Principles of Confidence and Hygiene During Puberty

This class is designed to help girls feel confident with their body changes. I will be teaching them about puberty, including their body changes, and how they can emotionally handle those changes. I will give guidance as to what they can expect for their first period, the symptoms of PMS, and how they can choose to have a growth mindset during the process. Class 1: Puberty - Body Changes: Girls will learn that their bodies will develop at a different pace than their friends. They may develop quicker or slower. The important thing for them to remember is to be kind to themselves and others. Different shapes and sizes are normal. - Stages of breast development - bras for each stage - First Period and packing a ready kit - How to use a period tracker Scavenger Hunt: Find items that make you feel clean and smell good. Class 2: PMS & Hygiene - What is PMS?: Girls will learn what PMS stands for and what to expect. - Natural Remedies for Helping with PMS: drinking water, eating healthy, getting exercise, an overview of important vitamins, sleep - Hygiene: hair care, oral care, skincare - Shaving Tips Scavenger Hunt: Find items that represent your hobbies. Class 3: Confidence During Puberty - Fixed vs. Growth Mindset - Dealing with Feelings - Tips for Helping with Shyness - How to Cool Down: who to talk to and what to do when feeling anxious, angry, or stressed - Learning How to Talk it Out: 1. Describe what upset you. 2. Describe why it upset you. 3. Decide what you will do or say next to best handle the situation. Scavenger Hunt: Find items that help you feel beautiful.
