During this 6-week pilates and barre fitness mash-up, students will build confidence, strength, flexibility, and balance, as they learn how to combine positive affirmations with rhythmic movement.

Class Experience

the students will learn how to use positive affirmations, rhythmic movement, and active breathing to build self esteem and reduce stress, while also improving their overall physical fitness.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University Missouri-Saint Louis.  I'm certified to teach all subject areas for grades 1-6.  I am also dual certified to teach both health and physical education in Missouri for grades K-12.  I am a licensed group fitness instructor and a life-long fitness enthusiast!  While I do not have formal dance training, I have spent many hours teaching dance-inspired and traditional fitness classes to kids, teenagers, and young adults.
While there is no traditional homework for this class, students will be encouraged to record each week’s affirmation in their journal and refer to it daily.  Students may also want to practice the rhythmic combination between classes, as each 8-count combo will build on the one learned previously.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, to ensure that your child is able to participate safely in each class, please help them with the following preparations:

1. Space Prep:  This class does not require a lot of space.  Simply make sure your child has approximately one "yoga-mat-length" of space clear of furniture and other trip hazards, as well as enough room to fully extend arms and legs to the front and to the back when facing the camera.

2. Equipment Prep:  Water bottle, yoga mat, pair of 1 pound hand weights OR 2 15-ounce cans of soup or other canned goods.

3.  Mind/Body Prep:  A warm up and cool-down stretch is included at the beginning and end of each class.  If your child must leave class early, please remind them to take at least 2-minutes to stretch.  (They may use the pre-recorded cool-down stretch posted on the first day of class.).
