Description

Class Experience

I am an elementary educator experienced in leading children through conversations that empower difference and embrace diversity.
Learners will need two wooden peg dolls, markers, scissors, liquid glue, tape, a one hole punch, construction paper in various colours including grey, cardboard (such as from a cereal box), a bendy straw, paper clips, yarn, cotton balls, a black Sharpie, a pencil, an eraser, pipe cleaners, craft felt in various colours including grey, a toilet paper or paper towel tube, grey paint, a paintbrush, a shoe box or empty tissue box with the front cut out completely and a slot cut out in the bottom, popsicle sticks, googly eyes, craft foam in various colours including yellow, baking soda, water, glitter, black food colouring, mixing spoons, a mixing bowl, measuring cups, measuring spoons, small bowls or cups to hold ingredients, three paper plates, lettuce or mixed greens, any fruit or veggie toppings desired for the salad, a glass jar with a lid, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, pepper, wax paper, a baking tray, peanut butter or a nut substitute butter, vanilla extract, rolled oats or granola, mini chocolate chips or m&ms, a spoon, a dowel, a small styrofoam ball (size of a doll's head), tissue paper or crepe paper, and a couple rolls of electrical tape in fun colours.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
8 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Campers may need to be supervised during activities that use supplies such as scissors and edible ingredients in order to ensure safety and reduce mess. Kahoot, My Free Bingo Cards and Jigsaw Explorer will all be used to play collaborative games during the camp. These websites all ensure that only invited players can join the activity and do not require login information.
The American Girl Girl of the Year books and videos will be used as inspiration for the camp but will not be used directly.
