Class Experience

This class will focus on ancient Egyptian geography, technology, and agriculture in the Nile River valley. In this interactive and discussion-based class, we will learn about how the Egyptians irrigated crops, handled drought and flood, and carried goods and people between Upper and Lower Egypt. We will use maps, videos, and images to discover how this ancient civilization was able to flourish in such an arid region of the world. We will look at the impact of the Nile River Delta on the lives of the Egyptians and those that lived in the Meditteranean region. As the teacher, I will present information and facilitate student discussions. This class will foster students’ opinions and the opportunity to participate. Students will not need any additional materials for this class. No prior knowledge is required.
Learning Goals
Students will discover how physical geography impacts the settlement of people, while the way people live impacts the geography in which they live.
