Class Experience

In this 35 minute, once a week class, learners will join with other like-minds to learn about what it truly means to be gifted and talented. Each week we will discuss a skill that is specific to gifted learners. They will be able to learn more about who they are, why they have certain feelings or behaviors, and see that other individuals struggle with the same issues. Students will learn about what it means to be gifted, social and emotional skills specific to gifted learners, and how to be the best version of themselves.

I am a licensed K-12 educator, with certification in gifted education. I have 8 years of experience teaching specifically gifted and talented students. I have received training and regularly teach social and emotional skills both in the classroom setting and on a personal level.

Each week students will need paper, pencil or pen, and something to draw or color with. Any other needed materials or printouts will be posted in the classroom prior to class beginning.

35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

The topics discussed in this class are sensitive in nature, but discussions and lessons are carefully planned to stay at a level of teaching strategies and skills. This class is meant to be educational and is not therapeutic or a form of counseling. Social-emotional skills are an included and important part of a regular gifted curriculum.
