US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
The ocean is full of so many remarkable and amazing creatures. But for some creatures, they grow enormously compared to others of the same species. Take the whale shark as an example, grows to over 40ft in length. That's almost 2x the size of a great white shark! During this 4 week flex course, we will dive into the ocean and take a closer look at some of the biggest creatures that call it home. Students will learn about: Whale Sharks Great White Sharks Blue Whales Orcas Lion's Mane Jellyfish Giant Manta Ray Japanese Spider Crab Giant Pacific Octopus. Each week, students will be given a video recording to learn facts regarding where each animal lives in the ocean, its key features, and diet. Students will receive weekly interactive activities through Nearpod such as labeling an animal's key features, filling the missing words, and multiple-choice questions. At the end of each week, we will also create our own drawing of each animal and add a fact sheet to create a book of ocean giants by the end of the course. When multiple students are enrolled, students will also be encouraged to participate in a fun guess who game. Each student will receive a picture card of an underwater animal. Students can ask yes or no questions to be able to guess what animal the other students have. Answers are revealed at the end of the four weeks. The course is listed as followed: Week 1: Whale Sharks and Great White Sharks Week 2: Blue Whales and Orcas Week 3: Lion's Mane Jellyfish and Giant Pacific Octopus Week 4: Japanese Spider Crab and Giant Manta Ray On Mondays, students will receive x2 videos to learn about each animal and a link to their Nearpod activities. Every Thursday, students will receive a video demonstrating how to draw each animal and also making the fact sheets for that week. In the first week, students will receive a map and pictures of each animal which they can add to their map every week. In the last week, students will also receive a front cover for their fact book and instructions on how to put their fact sheets together to build their own book to keep.

Hello, it's lovely to meet you! I'm Catherine, a qualified primary teacher and home educator from the UK.
I am incredibly passionate about encouraging the next generation to be proactive with conservation and protecting our planet. You'll see many of my classes are themed around my love for animals, endangered species, habitats, and conservation.
Young students care deeply about our world, are enthusiastic and keen to learn about sustaining our planet. My classes are aimed mostly at 4-6 or 5-7-year-olds for this very reason.
As a qualified primary school teacher and ESL teacher, outside of my animal-themed classes, I also offer a range of fun, activity-led classes focused on phonics, book clubs, early math, and ESL.
Outside of teaching, I love nothing more than spending time in nature with my family. I have two children, 6 and 4, whom I home educate with my husband. We spend as much time as possible visiting nature reserves, local wildlife parks, and hiking with our dog. My DSLR camera is always on hand to capture the incredible sights we see, from migrating birds in winter to summer-blooming flowers.
Nature and the world around us is a huge part of our life. With my classes, I help young learners with a passion for our incredible world, by answering their questions, providing cross-curricular activities, and extending their prior knowledge.
My live lessons are often discussion-based within a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Flex classes offer learners an opportunity to study the content at a pace or time zone that suits them. Due to them being no live lessons, these classes are jam-packed full of cross-curricular activities for students to enjoy and share with their peers.
Interested in finding out more?! GREAT!
Come along and join one of my classes below. I cannot wait to meet you.
