In this popular animal science class, students will learn about Giant Manta Rays. We will explore and compare the habitat, characteristics, diet, family group and conservation status of Giant Manta Rays. I will be using a presentation created using photo slides and asking interactive questions that will also integrate elements of geography, math and vocabulary into an animal science lesson designed to motivate natural curiosity. 1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of the Giant Manta Ray such as size, diet, habitat and characteristics. 2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify a species like the Giant Manta Ray. 3. Students will learn why conservation the Giant Manta Ray is so important and what is being done to prevent the extinction of this species. 4. Students will learn new vocabulary words related to the study of the Giant Manta Ray and their ocean habitat.
