In this class, students will use their imaginations as they learn and practice strategies that will help them develop creative writing skills based on the theme of Halloween. We will cover poetry and narrative writing elements that will help students bring their writing to life and convey particular moods or tones in their writing. The key terms for this course are the following: theme, tone, mood, rhyme scheme, similes, metaphors, imagery, alliteration, personification, character traits...
•Students will be able to convey particular moods or tones in their writing. •Students will be able to identify and use figurative language within writing. •Students will be able to use their imaginations to convey a particular theme in their writing.
Students will be encouraged to finish the final drafts of their writing outside of class.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The class will use Padlet.com to share ideas and construct the first drafts of our writing.
