Is Obi-Wan Kenobi one of your favorite Jedi heroes? In this class, we will learn all about the character Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi's life journey and how the force influenced his path in the Star Wars saga. We will also learn about the character traits that made Obi-Wan a remarkable and legendary Jedi Master. We will learn more about his relationships with Anakin and why he struggled with the fact that his padawan turned Sith. We will also learn more about his relationship with Luke and what led him to begin training Luke to kill his own father. After learners have gone through Obi-Wan's full background and history in my lecture, they will engage in an interactive discussion about their thoughts and opinions about the character. They will also use their critical thinking skills to answer discussion questions on "what if" scenarios, exploring possible alternative outcomes of the saga. Examples of these are, "What if Obi-Wan could have saved Anakin from the dark side?" and "What if Obi-Wan had never been born?" There will be slides, pictures, and video clips for the students to read and view during the class. The only required experience or knowledge learners should have before attending the class is to be familiar with Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi. It would definitely not hurt them to watch or re-watch the Star Wars movies, beginning with The Phantom Menace. They may also want to watch or re-watch The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. *We will also discuss the new tv series about Obi-Wan if the learners have been following it.

Teacher expertise and credentials
North Carolina Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Lourdes College
I have been teaching for 18 years in elementary education. Not only do I teach character traits, one of the main skills I teach in Reading and English is critical thinking, which is to think more deeply into and beyond the stories or subjects. I'm also extremely knowledgeable as a Star Wars fanatic and I am absolutely involved in the saga.
