Class Experience
Your student will learn how to code with Scratch, the world's most popular coding language. There is no experience necessary for this class and will be fun for everyone! This is a highly interactive class with students encouraged to interact with other students and the instructor regularly outside scheduled class times. Your student will be amazed at what they can do at the end of this summer camp and be ready to continue their coding journey. Week 1 What is Scratch How to Organize Your Scratch Account How to Find Ideas for Scratch Projects (Games, Animations, Art, Websites) Build a Fun Scratch Project What can you build with Scratch Week 2 What is a Variable? What is a Function? Build a Fun Scratch Project Keep Building with Scratch! Week 3 Sharing Your Scratch Projects Build a Fun Scratch Project Building Scratch Games Week 4 Advanced Scratch Extensions What is a Conditional Statement Building a Scratch Game Interactive Groups Every student is required to post questions, sample code, and their projects every step of the way. This gives students the chance to learn from each other and start practicing reading code. The instructor will also be providing feedback and guidance daily throughout the course. The class is a supportive, positive, and fun environment for all students! There is no coding or computer science experience required for this class. *********Students will need to be comfortable typing and using the mouse with their device. ********************
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to Scratch and learn the foundations. This allows them to confidently move onto more complex code and continue their coding journey. The camp is also intended to encourage students to get excited about the possibilities of coding and computer science!

Supply List
You can create a free account on https://scratch.mit.edu/join. Your student will need a Windows PC, Apple Mac, Linux or Chromebook to complete this class. Unfortunately, Scratch does not work on iPads at this time. ******** Students will need to be comfortable typing and use a mouse/track pad with their device. ********
