Class Experience

Coding is how we communicate with technology, and in this 4-week private class, your child will take their first steps into the world of programming with Botley the robot!
Meeting once a week, this one-on-one class allows students to move at their own pace, developing essential coding skills while learning how to think ahead, sequence instructions, and problem-solve like a real programmer!
Each week, we’ll build key programming foundations and introduce commands like Right, Left, Forward, Backward, and Transmit—helping students plan precise instructions so Botley can successfully complete each challenge. They'll learn the importance of order, accuracy, and logic in coding.
Your child will also have the opportunity to explain challenges and strategies, reinforcing their understanding and strengthening communication skills.
Lessons follow a flexible outline, progressing at the student's pace:
    • Week 1: Learn coding basics & collect an item
    • Week 2: Collect, return, and sequence objects
    • Week 3: Soccer coding challenge
    • Week 4: Construction zone coding challenge
Botley follows a programming style similar to Beebot, a robot commonly used in schools, making this a great way to extend classroom learning!
Want to test it out first? Try a one-time class to see if this is the right fit for your child! If you don’t see a session that fits your schedule, reach out—I’m happy to find a time that works for us both!

Learning Goals

By the end of these sessions, your child will be able to understand that an algorithm is a set of instructions, program a toy by inputting a sequence of commands/codes, and predict how different sequences lead to different outcomes.
