US Grade 6 - 7
In this interactive class we will review all of the prerequisite skills needed for a student getting ready to take Algebra. I will provide the students with formatted notes for each day and optional practice for outside of class. I will review skills each day and the students will practice each skill in class. I welcome discussion and questions as I believe it benefits all of the learners. The content that we will cover is: Day 1: Variables, expressions and integers; we will review simplifying expressions, powers, order of operations, integers and computation with integers. Day 2: Solving equations; we will focus on the properties of equality, the distributive property and solving simple equations. Day 3: Solving multi-step equations. we will build off of day 2 and work on more complex equations and inequalities. Day 4: Factors, fractions and exponents; we will build off of prime factorization to find greatest common factor, least common multiple and review properties of exponents. Day 5: Rational numbers and equations; we will review operations with fractions. Day 6: Ratios and proportions; we will review ratios and rates and write and solve proportions. Day 7: Percents day 1; we will review and practice the percent proportion and equation. Day 8: Percents day 2; we will review and practice percent of change and percent applications.
