1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will discuss the importance of the daily use of the sketchbook for building their art skills. Creative exercises and challenges will ensure the students have fun practicing a variety of skills as an example of what kind of work can go into their sketchbooks. I strongly believe students want to be active during classes. This keeps them engaged and solidifies the learning. Chatting about sketchbooks and brainstorming together while drawing gives the students a taste of what it is like to be part of a sketchbook club and how much fun it can be to work with other young artists to grow your skills. No drawing experience skills are required only a willingness to draw, experiment and practice in their sketchbook. Students will leave with 30 day sketchbook challenge they are welcome to try out.
Learning Goals
Students will learn why it is important to maintain daily practice in their sketchbook. They will also learn three drawing exercises to help them start drawing on days they can’t think of what to draw. Students will also start to think of the possibility of joining a Sketchbook Club with me to have a cohort of friends to support each other as they practice their work.
