45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time 45 minute class, students will learn about and practice public speaking. What is it? Why is it important to practice? We will also discuss tips for public speaking and why it makes us nervous. Students will be expected to have chosen a topic prior to class. Think about what you want us to know about your topic and what all you want to tell us! Be prepared to answer questions about your topic from the teacher and other students. Your topic can be anything from a favorite movie, a favorite singer, a pet, a vacation, etc. The class will be limited to 7 students to ensure that each student gets time to practice their public speaking, also to keep the audience small to help everyone feel more comfortable. Class Expectations: 1. Introductions. I will introduce myself and tell a little bit about myself to help make everyone more comfortable. I will then go around and ask the students their name, age, location (if they feel comfortable sharing), and what topic they have chosen to discuss. 2. We will learn about public speaking- what it is, why it is important to practice. Why does it make us so nervous and how we can overcome it. 4. Students will then each be given an opportunity to discuss their chosen topic. The student will also answer questions from fellow students and the teacher about their topic.
