In this twice-a-week class, you will learn every trick to get the highest score on the SAT and ACT (including the new Digital SAT). We will go through mock tests on the English and Math sections from the simplest to the most advanced questions that are harder than the actual test.

Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Advanced Level
Students will be taught to catch their mistakes on the SAT/ACT exam and improve their scores at least 100-400 points. They will learn how to improve their speed on the test by focusing on the content of the readings and of the math. If requested, we will also learn and practice SAT II Subject tests. These have been outmoded by the college board, but the skills are still useful for students. I will provide all tips necessary to get a perfect score, but it is up to the student to earn this. The difference between a 1400 and a 1600 (or a 28 and a 36 on the ACT) is often just four or five trivial mistakes on a few questions. Higher scores are to be expected but a 1600 cannot be guaranteed. The goal is to make the students think for themselves and use their own aptitude to find the right answers as fast as possible.

I have taught SAT/ACT/GRE test prep for 19 years and am very experienced.

Here's a recent review I received (11/28/23):
Dear Mr. Maltz,

I am writing to express my gratitude for the SAT lessons you provided to my son, Eric. About two years ago, he enrolled in your lessons on Outschool, exclusively choosing your guidance for SAT preparation. His first SAT was the Digital SAT in November 2023, and astonishingly, he achieved a perfect score. Upon hearing the good news, the first thing he shared with me was how invaluable Dr. Maltz's lessons had been.

I sincerely appreciate your effective instruction and guidance. Your teaching has made a significant impact, and we feel fortunate to have crossed paths with such an excellent educator.

Sincerely,
Rebecca H.
Homework Offered
Homework is optional. I give every student at least one mock SAT to practice with. I also give weekly homework with 90-120 questions for the student to practice with upon request. Upon request, I give the students more tests so they can practice with as much test material they think necessary. Just contact me. Each question should take 1 minute to solve and should be done at one's own pace. Answers are provided in the homework. I suggest people spend 30 minutes of practice at a time with the homework each day. Learners will do the homework in order to practice and ask questions for review.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students can practice with a mock SAT test I provide on request. They should see if there's an improvement. Let me know where any shortcomings are so we can address them as a class.
Grades Offered
 5 files available upon enrollment
Pencil, paper, Calculator (though we won't use it much), Internet Access, a Large Screen with which to view the displayed test, a Microphone, and Adobe Reader or some program to open PDFs. MICROPHONES ARE A MUST in this class. I cannot interact properly with your child and diagnose what they need unless I can speak with them. Kids who talk and participate do best in this class. The lesson one videos, which are an additional resource if the student finds the class a little difficult, are on YouTube.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
There should not be inappropriate content in the readings for the SAT and ACT as they have been chosen by the College Board and ETS Testing. Any reading in this class could potentially be on the SAT or the ACT.
