Get your Facts Straight 3: Grade 3 Multiplication, Division, & Problem-Solving is a positive and interactive class where participants work with each other and the teacher to practice math in a supportive, fun way. Students will create and solve problems by drawing and writing expressions and equations to practice multiplication and division within 100. Learners will be challenged to use what they've learned to solve multi-step mathematical problems and puzzles each week. Students will develop, practice, and share strategies for problem-solving in order to strengthen their mathematical foundation. Each class will with an activity focused on number-sense, followed by challenging word problems to practice multiplication and division strategies. Students will be expected to share and discuss problem-solving strategies with others. Each class ends with a student-created problem for students to work on for the following class. Week of February 13, 2023: Multiplication and Division Skills Practice Learners will participate in a number sense activity, then pose and solve word problems using multiplication and division within 100.Learners will discuss and share strategies, then create and share word problems using multiplication and division within 100. Week of February 20, 2023: Multiplication and Division Skills Practice Learners will participate in a number sense activity, then pose and solve word problems using multiplication and division within 100.Learners will discuss and share strategies, then create and share word problems using multiplication and division within 100. Week of February 27, 2023: Multiplication and Division Skills Practice Learners will participate in a number sense activity, then pose and solve word problems using multiplication and division within 100.Learners will discuss and share strategies, then create and share word problems using multiplication and division within 100. Week of March 6, 2023: Multiplication and Division Skills Practice Learners will participate in a number sense activity, then pose and solve word problems using multiplication and division within 100.Learners will discuss and share strategies, then create and share word problems using multiplication and division within 100.

Karrin Burns a licensed and certified educator in the state of Illinois with thirteen years of classroom experience. She is also the founder of Flying Start, an education organization providing educational learning opportunities in math and computer science. Mrs. Burns has a Bachelor of Arts in French (minor: Art History; University of Illinois at Chicago, 2006) and a Master of Arts in Teaching (National-Louis University, Chicago, Illinois 2010). She is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
Karrin Burns enjoys using inquiry-based learning and design-thinking in her classroom to maximize student learning as well as encourage student voice and choice. She believes education and entrepreneurship go hand-in-hand, cultivating creative thinkers through establishing an innovative idea-driven atmosphere. Entrepreneurial spirit and start-up mentality help to foster a creative and effective community!
