Class Experience
In this hands-on one time class I will walk learners through everything they need to get started sewing their own projects. We will walk through step by step how to thread their machine. We will wind a bobbin-and insert that properly in their machine. After their machines are threaded and ready to go, we will experiment with different stitches (time allowing) and I will show learners how to check their stitch tension and make adjustments if necessary. We will also discuss best stitches for their projects, how to guide seam allowance, and which stitches are appropriate and when to use them.
Learning Goals
After this class learners will be able to thread their machine, wind a bobbin, select a stitch and start sewing.

Supply List
Sewing machine good quality thread-gutermann. few scraps of fabric-it's good if it contrasts the thread so we can see the stitches better-basic cotton is fine. scissors maybe a paper and pencil to make notes if desired. It’s also helpful if learners watch a video or look through the instruction manual so they are familiar with the parts of the machine and that way the quicker we get through the threading the more sewing we can cover. (Optional)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
