This is an opportunity for incoming high school biology students (whether they are freshman or seniors) to find out what they can expect in a high school bio class, how they can prepare, units that are usually covered, and some helpful resources that they might want to start looking at. Since last spring was so challenging for many students, the fall is most likely filled with anxiety and anticipation. I'd like to help students feel more prepared. If there are more questions after the first...
My goal is to help students let go of any fears or anxieties they are having about their biology classes. Science tends to be a subject that scares some students but I want to help them let go of that and see that they can be successful!
As mentioned in the earlier description, I have been teaching middle school and high school for almost 20 years - the majority of which has been high school biology and chemistry. Because this is a student-driven question style class, there might be the question of learning about reproduction within the discussion. If this does occur, it will be addressed from a scientific/biological standpoint.
